Our History
Almost 20 years ago, the idea of Constable HR was born. Hilary began studying Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Moravian College where she met and studied under great minds in the field of Psychology. That started her on a path into retail, manufacturing, engineering, and healthcare. She has worked as an HR Business Partner, HR Manager, and in specialized roles in benefits, employee relations, recruiting and compensation.
From the start, she wanted two things - constant improvement and international work. The first part came easily. Managers were happy to have her reduce waste in a process, as was evidenced by process automation that reduced her work from 35 hours a week to 10 hours in her first full-time HR role. At her next company, she created a streamlined recruiting process resource for the Hiring Managers in her division, most of whom were Engineers by trade. (She loves Engineers, seriously.) That helped reduce their days-to-fill metric by about 100 days per position and beat a company-wide goal.
Along the way, she took a genuine interest in the business. She learned how to make the product, spent time on the manufacturing floor, asked a lot of questions and often surprised people with her knowledge and curiosity. Her Mentors have set invaluable examples of what it means to be a true Business Partner who can break the mold.
In 2007, the international opportunity came and she began an expatriate assignment in Shanghai, China with a greenfield project for a manufacturing facility in western India. Next came 2008 and the economic downturn in the U.S. Lay-offs and closures dominated her work for several months.
As 2010 began to turn the page on that story, she began to hire again as a dedicated Recruiting Consultant. The requisitions flooded her inbox and she honed her skills in interviewing, selection and negotiation. Then, she moved on to an HR Business Partner role where she developed a Compensation specialty, continued her work as a facilitator in Leadership Development and worked on projects for Employees in the U.S., Sweden, Belgium, Germany and South Korea.
For a true to departure into the unknown, she left manufacturing for healthcare where she focused solely on Compensation Analysis. That taught her a whole new way of thinking and rounded out her experience even further. There were some similarities too. Pharmacists are similar to Engineers, every organization needs to perform in order to survive and she found myself again pulled toward process efficiency and stability.
From all of this, Constable HR was officially born. We’re ready to grow and evolve as we work hard for each and every Client. We’re driven to see you succeed!
